Seven days is enough for a memorable Uganda safari if the route is designed carefully. The sample below combines gorilla trekking with savanna wildlife and a softer final day, while avoiding a rushed “see everything” itinerary.
Sample route
Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe or Kampala
Settle in, recover from travel, and review permits, route timing, and luggage needs with your guide.
Day 2: Transfer toward Queen Elizabeth National Park
Travel west with scenic stops. Depending on pace, sleep near the park or along the route.
Day 3: Game drive and Kazinga Channel
Look for elephants, buffalo, antelope, lions, and hippos, then add a boat cruise if timing allows.
Day 4: Drive to Bwindi
Continue to the correct Bwindi sector for your confirmed gorilla permit and lodge location.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking
Report for briefing, trek with rangers, spend regulated time with the gorillas, then rest after the hike.
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi or Lake Mburo extension
Choose a relaxed lake day after trekking or continue toward Lake Mburo for walking safari and zebras.
Day 7: Return to Entebbe or Kampala
Return with time buffers for traffic, shopping, airport transfer, or an overnight before departure.
Good variations
- Swap Queen Elizabeth for Murchison Falls if Nile scenery and falls viewing matter more.
- Add chimp tracking when budget and pacing allow.
- Choose Mgahinga instead of Bwindi when permit availability, golden monkeys, or volcano scenery fits better.
- Upgrade to a 10-day route if you want Kidepo, Murchison Falls, or more relaxed lodge time.
